Death 2 – A continuation of the previous song, the split is a beautifully architected split. WHATCHA GONNA DO WHEN ZOMBIES COME FOR YOU? (MURDER MURDER MURDER MURDER KILL KILL KILL KILL. Meech, Zombie, and Erick drop amazing verses, flexing the many ways they can discuss drugs in an entertaining manner (Zombie even references the Boston bombings).

And the minor key arpeggi’s from the synth… The vinyl-style distortion on the hook also adds to the track’s atmosphere. Erick Arc Elliott has probably used at least 3-4 different drum kits so far. Death – The last song’s skit suddenly throws us into a synth melody… and when it hits, we get a very smooth yet haunting beat. Even the skit at the end is perfect and funny under the ambient rain pitter and patter.Ħ. Who says he’s the third wheel lyrically? Goddamn, I cannot believe what I’m hearing so far.

Oh, and Erick Arc Elliott drops a full verse here, and he kills it. The hook is perfect, almost as if the words are meshing together and floating in air. This is definitely a jazz sample… and the piano/vocals complement the smooth bass line. G Tearz – At this point, Erick Arc Elliott is just showing off. This is some movie-like production with Meech hopefully screaming his lines into the mic. And Meech’s vocal inflections and verse is top-notch.

Erick Arc Elliott is outdoing himself right now. Minephuck – The piano sample in the beginning, the build-up of the drums, and the strings in the background… Holy shit. And of course, Erick Arc Elliott’s production is amazing. It’s no Lupe level discussion, but it’s one of their better tracks. Considering that this dropped on 9/11, this track fits surprisingly well. This is probably the most thought out track in terms of political commentary, but Meech also talks about some social commentary in it. The subject matter stands out immediately this is a very angry track despite its title (I mean. Bliss – Already in the third track… and I’m fucking loving it. The beat is unlike anything I’ve heard and the emotive ways Zombie and Meech lift the words off the paper is nothing short of excellent.ģ. He flips a Russian waltz (which is in 3/4 time) into an ethereal and cloud-like beat that is further supplemented by the characters of Zombie and Meech. Erick Arc Elliott is really the standout here on his production. Nephilim – I’m almost 100% sure he samples Anastasia’s soundtrack (yes, the animated movie). Despite this, the track is delivered with trademark Flatbush Zombies character and should be a good indication of what to expect.Ģ. If you’re going to make statements, be more intelligent about it. The only gripe I have about this track is the pseudo-political commentary. And when the beat finally drops and Zombie comes in, the beat is layered on top of the hard-hitting drums. The build up from the strings is reminiscent of The Addams Family or whatnot. Immediately, you can tell it’s going to be fun. Amerikkkan Pie – The intro track is amazing. Do they follow up with this release or does it get stale? Let’s find out.ġ. BetterOffDEAD has more prominent features and a chance to improve upon their freshman mixtape. These aspects in combination prove to be working for the group. The production behind the group is mainly headed by Erick Arc Elliott. Each of the three have their own persona and distinctive voices that provide diversity. The group focuses on drugs, sex, and other trademark rap subjects but delivered in an entertaining manner.

They’ve featured on quite a lot of tracks, moreso than The Underachievers. They blew up after the release of their first mixtape and have been killin’ it since. Flatbush Zombies consist of three members: Meechy Darko, Zombie Juice, and Erick Arc Elliott. This is a full mixtape, considered as a follow-up to their last mixtape, D.R.U.G.S., one of my favorite mixtapes last year. We’ve seen a mini-mixtape released by The Underachievers earlier, but Flatbush ain’t holding back. If the review DOES come early, well… I got to listen to it through some other means… 8-10 are great albums that REQUIRE a listen. As a result, I rarely review albums the day (or even the week) they come out. 4-7 is an album that may warrant listening depending on circumstances. As a rule of thumb, anything from 0-3 is something I won’t listen to again. Therefore, I listen to the album 5 times from start to finish and review said album track by track (after a foreword). As a warning, my ratings are harsh and try to be realistic. Let’s take a look.Ītticus’s Review Process: I believe in albums as a piece of art in its ENTIRETY. Alright… we’re sorta halfway through September, and we got a new release on 9/11 from another group from the Beast Coast movement.
